CTS expands its fleet even further for the transport of radioactive materials

We’re renowned for our expertise and capabilities in the global transit of dangerous goods ADR UN Classes 1-9, so you’ve probably already heard that we have an impressive fleet of vehicles for use in the transport of radioactive materials and other hazardous cargo. Vehicles range from 1.8T vans to 44T trucks with side and rear loading EXII/EXIII high security trailers.

Two new 44T Mercedes Actros tractor units with full ADR specification including EXIII

Our top priority is always to make sure cargo arrives at its destination safely and compliantly. Our UK based operations team stays informed with the latest changes in ADR UN Classes 1-9, IATA and IMDG legislation as well as country, regional, and site-specific regulations. Every CTS vehicle is built to the highest standards required for the transport of radioactive materials and we’ve just expanded our fleet to offer even more options when it comes to moving radioactive and other types of dangerous and security sensitive consignments from one location to another.

With an investment of over £250,000, two new 44T Mercedes Actros tractor units with full ADR specification including EXIII now further enhance our dedicated fleet of satellite-tracked vehicles. These units boast the biggest gigaspace cab available for optimum driver performance and safety.

Mercedes Sprinter vans with XLWB

As well as strengthening our fleet with top of the range additions, we also upgrade vehicles regularly. For example, we’ve just welcomed aboard replacement Mercedes Sprinter vans with XLWB for use in the safe movement of dangerous goods ADR UN Classes 1-9 by road across Europe, including the transport of radioactive material. Not only do these new models have an extra-long wheel base, they’re the tallest vans available which means we can transport extra loads of up to four pallets.

Specialist staff and trusted partners

CTS staff have undergone specialist training in radiation safety. Our security cleared ADR drivers, some of who are ex-military personnel, are experienced in the secure transit of dangerous goods ADR UN Classes 1-9, including the transport of radioactive materials. They’re also registered with an HSE Approved Dosimetry Service. Trained Radiation Protection Supervisors are supported by an external Radiation Protection Advisor and Dangerous Goods Safety Advisors, to make sure we adhere to the latest legislation for the compliant transportation of radioactive material – and we hold all the required accreditations.

Need to transport radioactive material by sea or air? We work with a large network of trusted partners within the sea freight and airfreight industries too. So, by road, sea, or air; our customers can be confident that hazardous cargo is transported in a safe, secure and compliant way.
