Financial Controller
Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
£55,000- £60,000 per annum plus benefits
Provide Financial & Commercial leadership for the company. Ensure the company is fully compliant and deliver streamlined financial reporting to facilitate sound business decisions.
Provide accurate and timely financial information to the business and maintain accurate records of financial data. Be responsible for the day-to-day management and control of the company finances including the preparation of statutory accounts, monthly management accounts and cashflow forecasts.
To monitor and enforce all financial controls across the business.
Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities…
- Provide impartial, strategic support and analysis to business leaders
- To ensure that financial information is presented in a format that is relevant to all department heads in a format that both financially and non-financially minded individuals understand, interpret and apply to their day-to-day roles.
- Bridging the gap between financial results and operational & commercial activities
- Providing analysis that links financial performance & deliverables to commercial objectives
- Ensuring the commercial, operational and financial objectives are aligned
- Building strong interdepartmental working relationships, ensuring that the impact on financial performance is considered in non-financial decision-making processes.
- Identification of key business drivers and influences, working alongside department heads
- Development and production of daily, weekly and monthly KPIs that cover key business drivers, along with benchmarks/targets
- Establishment of reporting channels into the organisation that will respond and react to the KPI reported
- Ownership of actions as a result of KPI reporting
- Preparation & presentation of accurate, timely and user-friendly financial and commercial information and provision of detailed analyses to aid business planning: monthly management accounts including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, accruals, prepayments, fixed asset register, flash reports (weekly/monthly), dashboards
- Improving the impact, understanding and relevance of financial data in non-financial departments
- Reviewing and developing companywide financial controls and procedures in line with best practice
- Monitoring expected margins on current and future planned work and analysis of variances between forecast margins and actual margins.
- Financial analysis, highlighting variances and discussing with departmental heads to identify risks and opportunities to improve financial results
- Analysis of Fleet statistics to aid decision-making and identify trends
- Take responsibility for change impact assessments

Key Skills & Experienced Required
- Ability to influence others and provide day-to-day financial leadership
- Strong decision-making skills
- Experience gained in logistics/commercially focused business
- Experience of Sage 50 Accounting software, including Sage 50 Payroll – RTI, Pension Auto-Enrolment, HMRC PAYE Settlement Agreements
- Preparation of Financial & Management Accounts
- Strong attention to detail/accuracy/confidentiality
- Strong IT skills – Microsoft Office suite including advanced Excel), knowledge of logistics (TMS/WMS) interface
- Experience of E-billing systems
- Strong leadership skills and evidence of strategic/commercial analysis & approach
- Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
- High level of commitment,

Qualifications
- Certified/Chartered/CIMA qualified accountant (or qualified by experience)
