Logistics Operative (Escort Driver)

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Escorts all scheduled delivery vehicles from search bays, coordinating the routing and ensuring the safe ingress and egress of vehicles to and from multiple locations on Customer sites A and B
  • Under the instruction (including routing) of Roads and Grounds, escort abnormal loads to and from multiple locations on Customer sites A and B
  • Secure handover of delivery vehicle to appropriate Site contact.
  • Maintains radio contact at all times with Delivery Coordinators using customer radio communication system
  • Reports any accident or incident concerning the escorted vehicle to Delivery Coordinators escalating to appropriate services where necessary
  • Undertakes other journeys as requested to effect the collection and delivery of bioassay samples, air handling samples, calibration equipment and ad-hoc items to and from AWE sites

Safety responsibilities:

  • Carry out the above activities in a way such as to maintain, as far as is reasonably practicable the health, safety and welfare of all personnel and to safeguard the condition of the environment as required by the customer
  • Safe and secure vehicle operation:
    1. Daily DfT vehicle defect checks, including visual checks of light bars.
    2. Loading/securing of freight on vehicle
    3. Vehicle cleanliness
    4. Security of vehicle and load (adherence to Vehicle Panic Alarm procedure)
    5. Associated paperwork

General:

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Book, plan and monitor international shipments using Freight Management System and Carrier portals – in accordance with the rules and regulations that apply to that area of the world and to the goods consigned
  • Create international transit documentation

  • Rate shipments for specific modes of transport in line with Incoterms

We have an exciting opportunity for a road haulage planner to join our friendly team.  This is a varied and ever-changing specialist road freight operation and you will be planning resources, routing our core fleet across the UK and into Europe.

You will be supporting our customer service team to competitively win jobs with your responsibility being to allocate and optimise resources, plan and evaluate the jobs and minimise empty mileage.  This is all done in line with Road Transport Legislation and according to the appropriate ADR Regulations and security protocols. 

To be successful, you must be able to work flexibly with other members of the team, be highly organised and make decisions quickly.  You must have a proven track record of optimising revenue through sourcing and winning supporting traffic to our primary loads.  This is a fantastic opportunity to build on your existing traffic office experience gained in UK and International road haulage or courier.

A bit about you:

Essential Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ domestic and international haulage/courier traffic office experience, preferably SME based

  • Multi-vehicle planning experience – ideally vans up to 44T trucks – must be familiar with payloads/dims/weights

We are seeking two careful, professional van drivers to join our southern crew to cover assignments throughout the UK and Europe, but predominantly to be deployed on regular Bristol to Newcastle secure moves.

  • It will include weekend and night working on rotating patterns that will be agreed in advance. A 10% uplift in pat will apply to any night work carried out between midnight and 0459am

Logistics Operatives

We have exciting opportunities to join our growing team in a highly varied role. You will need to be extremely adaptable and willing to undertake work across our entire operation including warehousing, transporting high consequence dangerous goods by road either single manned or as part of a double manned team and providing logistics services including office moves on a local client’s site. Initially you will be trained in our warehouse and scanning centre operation whilst security vetting checks are completed. Once the necessary clearances are in place, you will be cross trained on the other parts of the operation. You must be willing to work across multiple sites all within the local vicinity.

Daily Tasks include:

Security vetting is a requirement for all roles at CTS and any offers of employment are made subject to obtaining and maintaining the necessary security clearance. Applicants will be required to satisfy certain eligibility criteria including nationality rules and 10 years’ UK residency.

Hours:

The core warehouse operational hours are 0500 to 1900hrs. On our client’s site, the shift hours will be 0745-1700hrs. We are looking for applicants with flexibility to adjust their hours in line with changing business needs, to provide resilience across varying shifts & to be available for overtime which may include weekends (on a 1 in 4 rota).
