HR Assistant

Full time 40 hours per week

Office based role from our Head Office in Silchester near Reading

c. £20-25k per annum plus benefits

We are currently recruiting for an HR Assistant to  join our busy HR team.  Reporting to the HR Manager your role will be to provide HR Administration support for the business, working closely with all departments within the busy to maintain an effective HR function.

Main Accountabilities and Responsibilities…

  • Coordinate driver compliance administration including DVLA licence checks, driver attestations and CPC training
  • Keep accurate, up to date employee records on Sage HR; input new employee details, update training records, attendance data, disciplinary, performance management etc.  Assist with running management reports for training, attendance etc.
  • Maintain personnel and security files; filing, archiving according to ISO Quality control of documents etc.
  • Recruitment: provide administrative support in preparation of job descriptions and person specifications, preparation of job adverts (internal and external), sending out application forms, shortlisting, arranging interviews, liaison with agencies, administering assessments etc.
  • Assist with job offer letters, preparation of contracts, new starter packs
  • Coordinate and process new starters and leavers
  • Training: liaise with training suppliers, course bookings, joining instructions, filing of training certificates, maintain individual training records on Sage HR, assist with coordination of induction training for new starters
  • Provide administrative support to HR Manager in carrying out BPSS checks, 5 year checks for Air Cargo Security training, Security Clearances via DBS-UKSV
  • Prepare and maintain staff handbooks including HR policies, maintain up to date HR procedures and new starter packs
  • Answer telephone and provision of first line advice to employees regarding HR policies, benefits etc.
  • Take notes and coordinate information or evidence for disciplinary and grievance investigations
  • Uniform stock control and distribution
  • Other HR administration duties as required

General Accountabilities and Responsibilities…

  • Maintain regular stock of office supplies and other consumables (for example stationary, uniform, water, refreshments, cleaning products)
  • Open and distribute post
  • Answer telephones within internal SLAs.
  • Meet and greet visitors to CTS, escort to meeting room and arrange refreshments
  • Organise office catering, social events as required.
  • General office admin: franking mail, filing, scanning, laminating, photocopying as required.

A Bit About You…

  • Minimum 1 year’s office based administrative experience
  • Must have GCSE English and Maths (at least grade C or above) as a minimum
  • This is an entry level HR role however candidates need to demonstrate a genuine interest in a career in HR e.g. either currently studying for/committed to studying for CIPD qualification
  • Due to the nature of the information that this role is exposed to, discretion and confidentiality are of paramount importance
  • Excellent IT skills: full Microsoft office (word, excel to a high level) and accurate data entry.  Experience with HR database software (Sage) an advantage
  • Excellent organisational skills; works methodically and efficiently with strong attention to detail and is procedurally driven
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels across the business

Key Account Manager

Full time 40 hours per week
Reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer
Office based role from our head office in Silchester, Near Reading

We are currently recruiting for a Customer Service Manager to join our team. A great role for someone who has experience working within the busy Sales Department of a fast paced Logistics Company your role is responsible for developing and managing our sales portfolio, sales pipeline and response to tender requests for new and existing customers. To build and maintain excellent customer relationships with CTS key accounts and to service these accounts translating the customers’ business requirements into operational specifications and create potential sales growth opportunities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities…

Sales:

  • To build a sales pipeline of potential opportunities for new and existing customers across each of the key market sectors that CTS operate in.
  • To work with the Marketing team to use coordinated marketing campaigns to help expand our customer portfolio in existing market sectors – Defence, Nuclear, Medical, Secure Information and data.
  • To manage and improve the sales process and systems/tools used to communicate with our existing customer base.
  • To lead and co-ordinate the business response to new tender opportunities by acting as programme manager for the tender.

Account Management:

  • To manage the day to day customer interface(s) with our key customer accounts ensuring that CTS service delivery is conducted in a customer focussed way enhancing our brand and reputation with those customers.
  • To communicate with the operations team to ensure daily prioritisation of service delivery, coordinate operational capacity against customer requirements, and achieve key SLAs & KPIs
  • Work in collaboration with key stakeholders to identify and inform service improvements to increase customer satisfaction and strengthen customer relations
  • Collate and report on customer feedback information and data for dashboard reporting.  Compile periodic reports as per client requirements and attend client review meetings as required.

Account Development:

  • Work in collaboration with CTS Senior Leadership, to develop plans to provide innovation and enhancements in value to client.
  • Coordinate and report on potential change controls and service innovation/enhancements to appropriate CTS management
  • Act as a relationship ambassador, developing & managing effective working relationships, responding appropriately to customer requirements including complaints, escalating where necessary to ensure full resolution.

Customer Services Coordinator x2

We’re looking for an experienced Customer Services Coordinator to come in and add real value to our Sales team. Road Transport Planner x2

Silchester, Reading
Salary £28k to £35k plus benefits
Two roles to fill shift patterns of 6am-3pm and 2pm-10pm

We have an exciting opportunity for two road haulage planners to join our friendly team.  This is a varied and ever-changing specialist road freight operation and you will be planning resources, routing our core fleet across the UK and into Europe.

To provide proactive management and cost-effective co-ordination of the Company’s daily Road Transport Operations in accordance with the business values, objectives, policies and procedures and legislation in place at the time.

To consolidate and optimise loads, routes, freight types and resources where possible in order to maximise revenue for the company, whilst ensuring customer service delivery and compliance requirements are met at all times.

To provide support in all aspects of fleet maintenance and Driver’s Hours/ Tachograph/WTD enforcement in accordance with legislation and the company’s Operator’s Licence.     

To implement strategies, policies and working practices that will enable the Company to maximise its returns and margins on all operations.

To follow up all sales opportunities and build on existing customer base through regular liaison with Sales/Business Development team.

The Role:

  • Manually planning collections and deliveries for CTS’ fleet on our digital (excel) board – vans up to 44T tractor and trailer units taking into account the many variables e.g. cargo compatibility, drivers’ hours, driver qualifications, vehicle requirements and legal compliance
  • Board optimisation: directing maximum use of resources and minimal fuel costs through forward planning
  • Sourcing and securing complimentary primary and backloads
  • Driving towards agreed contractual KPI’s, financial and service goals for CTS
  • Ensuring board data is kept accurate and real time.
  • Supporting our customer services team in pricing requests and quotes to win profitable Road business
  • Leading on three daily board ‘rundowns’ to prioritise workload, interrogate the schedule and identify potential problems before they occur
  • Briefing and debriefing drivers – ensuring Driver Hours /WTD and Tacho requirements are met
  • Accurate use of company software and systems to ensure efficient operations
  • Managing subcontractors

A bit about you:

Essential Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ domestic and international haulage/courier traffic office experience, preferably SME based
  • Extensive Return Load/Backhaul experience
  • A good level of mental agility, experience of manual planning/scheduling, good numerical and analytical skills
  • Multi-vehicle planning experience – ideally vans up to 44T trucks – must be familiar with payloads/dims/weights
  • Good knowledge of drivers hours legislation
  • Good route planning skills & strong geographical knowledge (National and International)
  • Self-starter able to demonstrate strong commercial acumen
  • Awareness of broker outsourcing and subcontracting

Essential Skills:

  • Verbal and written communication: a positive outlook and the ability to build strong relations with team, drivers, logistics partners and clients
  • Problem solving: proactive intervention to improve outcomes
  • Prioritisation: a systematic, methodical, persistent & thorough approach to work
  • Attention to detail – maintains high standards when working under pressure and to varying deadlines
  • IT – competent user of, for example, TMS/WMS/vehicle telematics and full Microsoft office suite

Desirable:

  • Specialist Logistics (High Consequence DG) knowledge – this is not essential since training will be provided
  • Transport Manager CPC / Driver CPC / NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Traffic Office
  • Previous experience working in secure transportation, aerospace, security or defence industries and/or project moves

Security Van Drivers

We have immediate vacancies for security drivers to expand our crew in the Reading area. We’re looking for adaptable and flexible individuals who like variety, for regular driving work. You will be transporting specialist cargoes including dangerous goods and other high consequence goods and work will be varied, taking you to unusual destinations around the UK and into Europe.

Driving for CTS is about delivering excellent customer satisfaction and you will need to be an individual with integrity, who takes pride in their work, shows meticulous attention to detail and has a positive ‘can do’ attitude.  You must be well presented with good geographical knowledge. Experience with high security/high value, multi-drop, double manned and international driving would be an advantage and holding an ADR qualification is beneficial although not essential as training will be provided for the right candidates.

What will my working week look like?

  • It will include weekend and night working on rotating patterns that will be agreed in advance. A 10% uplift in pat will apply to any night work carried out between midnight and 0459am
  • It will involve early starts, late finishes and nights away from base

Hours:

Hours will vary from week to week:

  • M-F: as required by the business up to legal limits under European Drivers Hours Legislation including rest periods
  • Across a year your hours should average 50-55 per week
  • You should expect to be doing regular nights out and sleeping in your cab
  • Occasional weekend work required as part of a rota
  • Salary: £37,128 pa rising to £38,454 post probation, plus subsistence allowances
  • Overtime rates apply at weekends and BHs (1½ x)

CTS is a provider of specialist logistics that has been in operation for over 20 years.  We’re looking for a number of  adaptable and flexible individuals who like variety, for regular driving assignments.

You will be transporting specialist cargoes including dangerous goods and other high consequence goods and work will be varied, taking you to unusual destinations throughout the UK and into Europe.

As a casual worker, your working hours will vary dependant on the work available and your availability to undertake it.  Assignments may include weekdays, overnight stays, weekends, early starts, late finishes, sometimes at short notice although at other times we will be able to offer work with in advance of 2 weeks’ notice.

Security vetting is a requirement for this role.  Applicants must have resided in the UK for 5 years.  Please do not apply unless you have lived in the UK for the last 5 years at the date of application.
